Your New Dog
Whether you are getting a puppy, adult or rescue it is not only going to be a wonderful new arrival that you and your family can celebrate, it will also change your life!!
There are many things that will change, so before you go ahead and bring a new life into your home it is always worth thinking about how this will affect not only you and your lifestyle, but those who live with you and those around you.
Taking the time to think through the routine and needs of you and yours will make the transition all the easier and less stressful all round.

Puppies are wonderful and joyful, and completely change your life - but there are many things that even as a 'repeat parent' you may have forgotten. See Puppies for more details.
Adult and rescue dogs new to your household will have their own set of needs, and will have their own history and expectations of life from their previous experience.
Even where you know this history, it will only be 'on the surface' and he/she will still react to your new home and life according to how he/she sees it at the time.
So be kind to yourself and your new arrival, and don't make assumptions about how they will react to their new life. Providing love, care, a safe environment, and understanding, will help you and your new friend settle together.
If you already have another dog (or other animals), then take the time to ensure they will all be happy sharing their lives together. A little extra thought and time given to this beforehand can make all the difference.
Dogs (or any animal) love to be with their own kind, and having a second (or third) addition to your canine family can be an experience that surpasses all expectations!!
