Unwanted Pregnancy
Accidents can happen, even between litter mates. So whatever your situation, precautions need to be in place for when your dog is in season.
Keeping your female dog safe and away from male dogs is essential and may even mean finding a suitable friend or dog sitter (for example) to take your dog for the most potent time - a female will be in season over a three week period, where (roughly) the middle week is the time in which she can conceive.

Having an unwanted litter, or having to terminate, is not a position you want to find yourself in. It doesn’t seem sensible to spay your female before her first season, but a month or, preferably, two, after that is the best time to have her spayed.
When you know a season is coming up, think about the practical aspects of how you can keep her safe and away from males wanting to mate.
