There are many parasites, and the main ones we guard against are covered above. Two other diseases that parasites can cause that you should be aware of are Neosporosis (that can cause abortions in cattle) and Sarcocystosis (neurological disease in sheep).
These are parasites that can be passed on through the faeces from raw fed animals (also undercooked food, plus various other sources, such as rats etc). Whereas we should all pick up our dog faeces wherever we are and however we feed our dogs, it should be noted that these parasites are killed by freezing. So if you buy your raw food frozen (as many of us do) and on odd occasions not be able to find where your dog has defecated, you will not be risking disease in livestock.
It is interesting that this fact is not included in official government department literature that is available online or in leaflets made available to the public, or in a BBC Countryfile program that highlighted the issue.
