Muscle Testing
Otherwise known as Kinesiology, muscle testing for dogs can help you to get yes/no responses when you ask the dog specific questions. The technique taps into the innate intelligence within living beings.
You would have one person linking with the dog by placing one hand on him, and the person’s other arm would have pressure applied to it. If the arm stays strong to a question, it would indicate a ‘yes’ response. If the muscles in the arm are weak and don’t stay strong, this would indicate a ‘no’ response.
You might, for example, want to test whether your dog is allergic to certain foods or substances. You can either name the food or hold a sample of the food on the dog’s body. If the dog is allergic to that particular food, the person’s arm would be weak when pressed.
You can also use muscle testing to find out if a dog needs a specific supplement, and take it further by asking questions about the dog’s thoughts and feelings.

Science has tried to verify whether muscle testing is an accurate diagnostic tool or whether it’s pseudoscience. Unfortunately, the jury is out. Some studies have shown that it works, and others have shown that it doesn’t!
In one study, for example, muscle testing showed that a person was allergic to certain foods, and blood tests confirmed that there were antibodies to these foods in their body.
I’ve used muscle testing on many dogs who I didn’t personally know. What’s interesting is that dogs with allergies test positive for supplements like vitamin c, aloe vera and transfer factor even when no-one had told me that the dogs had allergies beforehand. Vitamin C, aloe vera and Transfer Factor are all used to reduce inflammation and allergies in the body. You can pretty much tell the owner about the dog’s health tendencies just by muscle testing for them.
We teach people how to muscle test when they attend our courses. It’s up to them, then, to test for themselves to see if muscle testing works or not. I personally think it does, although you can’t rule out the effect of the observer’s thoughts on subsequent results. But that’s quantum physics for you, and the way the whole world works!
Spotlight on Health Kinesiology
I know about lots of different complementary therapies. There are several which I think are wonderful. These include EFT, hands-on-healing, nutritional therapy and homeopathy. If I had the time and the funds, there’s another I’d like to study in depth. We teach kinesiology (muscle testing) on both our Foundation in Canine Healthcare and Animal EFT courses, but there’s a lot more to it. In another life, with other priorities (i.e., if it weren’t for CHC), I think I’d be a full time therapist with kinesiology being one of the therapies on offer. I think it’s just great.
Maybe, in the years to come, vets will be trained another way. They’ll look at health on a holistic level, and not just attempt to fix symptoms without dealing with the underlying causes. Maybe Health Kinesiology will be part of the training. Meanwhile, there’s nothing to stop you taking a look, consulting a therapist, or maybe training in this discipline yourself.
Health Kinesiology (HK) is a successful and growing complementary therapy that has helped many people (and animals) recover from symptoms and illnesses like allergies, asthma, food intolerances, eczema, stress, hay fever, Candida and other everyday illnesses. But for many people, HK is still an unknown therapy.
Health Kinesiology is a complementary therapy concerned with rebalancing the energy system of the body.
It uses muscle testing to identify the problem areas: light pressure is applied to a muscle and the response is monitored. Once the stresses are identified, gentle techniques are used to bring the body back into balance and harmony with itself.
Common forms of treatment include the use of magnets, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, or even a particular thought. Most clients find the session a relaxing and enjoyable experience, although they may be a little mystified as to how such unusual treatments can leave them feeling so much better!
Every session is unique
No two sessions of treatment are the same, even for people with similar symptoms, because the person is treated as a unique individual. HK's truly holistic approach of addressing both physical and psychological issues makes it an especially powerful healing system, which is being recognised increasingly by members of the medical profession.
In a single session, the therapist may identify allergies, rectify nutritional imbalances, deal with phobias and psychological stress, rebalance chakras and start the process of detoxifying the body from heavy metals, vaccinations, drugs etc.
You don't have to be ill to benefit from HK. Even when there is no obvious problem, it may well be possible to improve health, wellbeing, physical or intellectual functioning, attitude or potential. HK can help you achieve your potential in sport, to pass exams, and to perform your job with more confidence and ability. A regular session can keep stress levels under control, making it easier to feel good and look good. HK can help you achieve your dreams.
Emma, (the dog), was taken to the Vets because she appeared to have a film starting to cover her eyes. The vet didn't know what it was and so the dog was taken by her owner to an eye specialist. The diagnosis was not good. It looked like Emma would be blind in approximately six months. The owner, who was also a Health Kinesiologist, decided that she was not going to accept the fact that Emma was going blind and so she started to treat her with Health Kinesiology.
After just six weeks the blue film didn't seem as thick as it had done and so Emma was taken back to the eye specialist, to establish if in fact this was the case. After examining Emma the Vet said that there had been a marked improvement in her condition and that she saw no reason why the condition should not improve further.
Emma's eyes have continued to improve and her eyes now appear to be browner than they have been for a while…and all thanks to Health Kinesiology!
Frazer, a Westie, had suffered with allergies since he was a puppy. West Highland terriers are prone to skin diseases. In the summer Frazer's skin was particularly bad and he would become so irritated by some grasses that he would drag himself along the ground until he made his tummy and legs bleed. The vet suggested steroid creams and antihistamine tablets, but even these didn't seem to bring the condition under control and Frazer and his owners were very distressed.
They eventually took him, aged 2, for Health Kinesiology and the main thing that came up for him was that he needed some allergy work done. After just one treatment the skin calmed down and since then he has not suffered with summer pollens at all…and he now enjoys his walks through the countryside all year round.
