The Wonder of Honey
From a book by Thomas Bartram
The use of honey has also been criticised by some hard-core raw feeders. Honey is made up of a wide range of nutrients, including phosphates, iron, iodine, magnesium, and vitamins A, B and C. It is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic. Honey is known to eradicate Helicobacter-pylori which causes ulcers. It’s a potent inhibitor of the bacteria that cause salmonella and E-coli.
Experiments have shown that typhoid germs when left in honey have died within 48 hours. Cases of dysentery have been rendered harmless after 10 hours.
Honey is rich in enzymes – catalysts that stimulate and control all chemical reactions in the body. Honey is capable of initiating gains in haemoglobin levels, and indicated in most forms of anaemia.
Honey improves circulation of the blood through the brain and can improve memory. Two or three teaspoonfuls of honey daily may prevent the onset of viruses.
Cataracts have been successfully treated with the use of honey applied under the lower eyelid. Sometimes there may be a transient stinging sensation and redness soon after application,.
Manuka honey has a high level of anti-bacterial activity. Therefore, as a supplement, honey can be positively indicated.
