Politics
Does your Government have your best interests at heart?
Most of us do not believe that they do. And your dog will come a lot further down the list than people do.
Most political systems are subject to a level of corruption, and democracy has pretty much given way to a system governed by commerce.

Most of us do not believe that they do. And your dog will come a lot further down the list than people do.

There's only one person who has your dog's best interests at heart, and this is you. Laws are supposed to be devised by the people to protect the people. Seems to me that we’re now very far from this lofty aim.
So if politicians say you must, by law, implant a microchip in your dog … become knowledgeable so that you can protect the loving being in your care. When you are told a product or procedure is as a result of government department scrutiny, realise that the government's 'customer' is industry - not the pet owner. When you are told about a product or treatment that has been passed (or denied) by an official body, like the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in America or the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD)/DEFRA in the UK, you are being informed by an organisation that puts you and your pets below the needs of industry.
Also, is the organisation that is giving you information a trade body for industry? Like the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH), which offers plenty of information for use in the veterinary industry. This is information that is used by vets when they speak to you as a pet owner. So you may think you are getting impartial advice and information on the treatment/drugs you are about to accept to put into your loved one, when in fact all you are getting is trade sales propoganda.
You will be told that drugs have passed trials and safety test - have a look at http://www.safermedicines.org/index.php who have also been trying to get all trials published, not just those that show what industry wants to show - all the negative ones as well, going back over the years. See:

Withholding results costs lives
Doctors are being misled
Medicine is broken
Vets constantly oppose and ridicule anything that is not 'scientific', yet provide information that is from industry sales and marketing or product sales blurb. This is NOT scientific and most definitely double standards, deception and a willingness to place your pet's health in the arms of an industry whose main goal is to increase their billion dollar industry. What on earth happened to the vet's oath of 'first do no harm'?
